an important piece of art
its funny how people knock the production in this album when every track is produced with a lot of detail with the beats being critical to the songs character and entirety. if nas made an album w/ a bunch of club beats then he may have a bunch of more kids listening to him, but the messages that he conveys will be lost. this album has diverse styles of songs and production and they all have a point to them.

and what nas has to say in this album is very important for our current culture and society in general to open their minds to. He's not being racist or spitting hate in this album at all. he's just expressing the hidden tensions that exist within our culture that we are taught to ignore.

The N and a New Beginning
This is an absolute must have album for hip-hop purists. Nas truly expanded upon his legacy with the untitled "Nigger Album". This time he took the time to carefully craft his lyrics and blend them with the production. The album is a stark examination of being a "nigger/nigga" in America. It doesn't necessarily try to give you an evaluation from all sides but what it does do is try to subvert the ill-intended connotations we are so use to associating with the term. Also, this piece serves as a cautious evaluation of American history past and present. It works to form a sense of black nostalgia through discussions of black social idioms along the lines of economic classification in America. The only kink in the armor of this album concept wise is a Chris Brown ad lib("baby back") in the background of Game's verse on the song "We Make The World Go Around"; however, the rest of the album is virtually flawless. Please make sure you listen and review for yourself. This album may even surpass Illmatic as Nas's finest album to date. Ten years from now this will be the album that critics rave about(not "The Carter III").

Nas - Untitled
Nine albums in Nas continues to make quality Hip Hop music returning with his latest untitled release a fifteen track album which features guest appearances from Eban Thomas of The Stylistics & The Last Poets, Chris Brown, The Game, Keri Hilson, Busta Rhymes, The Last Poets & Mykel. Nas shines on the lead commercial single "Hero", rhyming with confidence backed by vocals from Keri Hilson and production by Polow Da Don. My favourite track on this album is the Stargate produced "America", Nas shines like the sun on this outstanding cut, rhyming about his life, history, country, racism, and the state of the nation. Throughout this release Nas never hesitates to drop his thoughts (EG testify, N.I.*.*.E.R.) touching on many different topics and showing a depth that the majority of todays rapper's lack. Nas pays tribute to Louis Farrakhan on the revolutionary "Untitled". Nas and singer Mykel address the bigger picture on the positive "We're Not Alone". The closing track "Black President" is an excellent anthem, Nas samples Tupac and Senator Barack Obama on this head nodder. Solid album, recommend this release for the collection.

NAS did it again
NAS is back with his 9th solo album entitled untilited; which was originally supposed to be called n*****; but was pretty much forced to changed the title. He kept the theme of the album for the most part. NAS is a very conscious/ political MC which will spit fire with just about every line he rhymes ever since the illmatic days. Right now, this is probably the best album of 2008 along with Bun B'S album II trill. The tracks I have on constant rotation includes queens get the money, breathe, hero; tight production from polo da don, testify; which starts off with some lyrics that would consider him even more controversial.

I just burn my american flag,
I just sent 2 cracker Nazi's to hell and I'm sad

Just listen to the entire song, it's powerful. Some other tracks I found to be tight were black president, fried chicken, you can't stop us now, N****r, and yall my n****z. If you want to hear an MC kick true knowledge, then cop this album.

Q's top 6

1.Testify
2. N****r
3.Breathe
4.Fried chicken
5. Hero
6. Queen's get the money
