who doesn't love this album???
let me start off by saying that i can't think of anyone in their right mind who doesn't love this album. what not to love? bob marley continues to touch the very hearts of people with his inspirational music and manages to bring smiles a plenty to people from all walks of life. legend could not be more necessary than now what with all the mass confusion of everyday life and all the melodrama we go through on a day to day basis. it's no wonder that this man has inspired so many musicians and artists as probability suggests he will live on through the ages and continue to inspire all who are willing to listen or open their hearts. if you need that extra bit of energy or a boost here and there, legend is the cd you must have in your collection. this may be one of the few albums you will be listening to as long as you live. bob marley music can be played at any given time in the day and you will always feel the energy, the inspiration, and brilliant insight which he offers us so gracefully. long live the legend !!!

Yeah, its good, BUT GO GET SONGS OF FREEDOM
Sure, this has all the US radio hits, but what about the rest of the stuff? Bob Marley did so much, you shouldn't limit yourself to a set of 14 songs. If you really want to get into it, go get the Songs of Freedom Box Set, it has some 78 songs on it, and all of them kick .... For a little taste of that one, go get Trenchtown Rock, Acoustic Medley, Lively Up Yourself, Ride Natty Ride...if you got the money, do as I say and you can thank me later.

'Hey, Bobby Marley, sing something good to me'.....
If a test of good taste in music were to be introduced then surely Bob Marley would be part of it. How can you not like this? Great political messages sung in an uplifting and inspiring way. Fantastic rhythms and beautiful melodies. Bob Marley is as good as popular music gets. Usually with greatest hits albums you imagine what you would have included and end up excluding half the songs on the original. Here this is pretty much what I would have included (although 'I shot the Sheriff' was ruined for me by the absolutely dreadful Eric Clapton cover and perhaps 'Positive Vibration' and 'Johnny Was' should have been on here). If you want an introduction to reggae music (and everyone should have one) this is the place to start. If you do not already own this what are you waiting for?

Indespensible.
It is impossible to overestimate the impact Bob Marley and his music have had on popular culture, religion and politics. "Legend" is aptly titled and features 14 brilliant, life-altering grooves that will uplift, enlighten and educate. What more can I say, this is timeless music from a giant and a true genius. NO collection is complete without some Bob Marley.
No filler and my personal fave "Jammin'" never gets old! Classic.

A great intoduction to a fantastic artist.
This was the very first CD of Bob Marley (and Jamaican music, for that matter) that I ever purchased. I will certainly continue to buy after hearing the amazing quality of Mr. Marley's music. His songs are among the very best music I've ever heard, from any genre (and I listen to everything from rock to classical to electronic to jazz.) The fourteen cuts here represent the musical career of a man who has already been immortalized by countless fans everywhere. I think this is because of the quality of his music and his very positive message. The music is very political, but not angry or bitter. He expresses his beliefs poetically and tastefully. I especially like "Redemption Song" because of the very soulful way Mr. Marley expresses his spiritual and political beliefs. It is a very profound song. All of the songs, however, have very good lyrics and a mellow, easy-going pace. These factors contribute to make this an excellent meditaion CD. So, if you're just discovering the music of Jamaica (like me), or if you are already a fan, pick up this album. You will not regret it.

Bob Marley, thank you for making this great music and touching so many people.
