Hairspray - Soundtrack To The Motion Picture

This is a great musical. Fun to listen and sing along to. Not all the voices will knock you over, but theatrically they are done really well.

I looked everywhere to get this album and it had sold out really fast, but i knew amazon had it since I had checked the night before.

Right away when I got it I was very excited and of course I played it all day long and got all the songs stuck in my head within minutes.

I really loved the movie and the soundtrack was just a gloriously awesome bonus! Every word to every song just took me to the moments that were applicable to the scenes that they were song in. Each song told its own story, and are extremely well written. The upbeat songs have you getting up out of your seat! You will not sit still when you listen to this soundtrack. Moreover, its a relief to hear decent and timely songs for a change. Really makes me wish I was living back in the day! Once you see the movie you will not hesitate getting the soundtrack. I rated this item a 2 for one simple reason: these singers can't even compare to the original broadway cast. Trust me if you really want to be awed by this fantastic musical, buy the broadway version.

I enjoyed the original John Waters film and am a huge fan of the Broadway Musical soundtrack. The movie remake of the Broadway show was done very well. Some people complained that it didn't follow the exact storyline but I thought it was fine. There was just enough change so that it stands on its own. The actors are all great. The only thing I was disappointed in was the rendition of "Ms. Baltimore Crabs" which needs to be big, bold, and ballsy, but on the soundtrack was very understated. But all together it's a great addition to my musical CD collection.
