one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard
I have to admit, i probably would have never heard of these guys if it werent for the movie Vanilla Sky. It features song #4 in probably the most beautiful and stunning scene in recent cinema. That is why i got the cd. However, the entire cd is incrediblely melodic, relaxing, and soothing. THIS IS A MUST HAVE CD. also, watch the last scene in Vanilla Sky. That will convince you to buy the cd because of the amazing song.

Weird, artsy, and surprisingly enjoyable
This is my first Sigur Ros album, and I was very surprised at how easy it is to listen to. Don't get me wrong, this is not radio-friendly (and thank goodness for it) but it's not Einsturzende Neubauten, either. The music is beautiful, not unpleasant, but still complex and intriguing, like a symphony one of the old masters might have written if he'd had access to electric guitars, synthesizers, and a stash of recreational drugs. :)

In most reviews, I'd leave it at that, but I have to comment on the packaging. This is far and away the most beautiful album I've ever seen. It's as much a work of art as the music, and it's practically worth the price of admission for the cover-art alone. Do yourself a favor and buy this one new and unsullied (sorry, sellers).

What!?!??!?
It's okay music. I'll start by saying that. But why are these guys being heralded as the saviors of rock?

Come to think about it... is this even rock at all?

Beautiful mix
This album is a great mix of instrumental and non-instrumental tracks. It is remarkably dreary for how pretty it is, and becomes something of a mystery as you try to figure out what its about. The musical aspect of it is very ambient, but not boring, each song seems to build and even get intense. The mystery may belong to fact that the lyrics are sung in a made up "Hopelandic" language, which sounds alot like Icelandic to me. This album is completely, in every sense of the word beauty, everything seems pleasant, and the singer Jonsi Birgisson sounds like a female throughout most of the album, but as you can imagine, he can hit some incredible notes. This is the kind of music that i listen to, and have trouble understanding how it all goes together so smoothly, to the point where their is nothing i can imagine that could be added, because it is that perfect.
Favorite instrumental track- Track 3
Favorite track with vocals- Track 4
(the whole album is untitled)

this is what "OK, Computer" should have been.
With (), Sigur Ros has gone way beyond of what Radiohead can dream of achieving for two reasons.

1. () is experimental and totally accessible at the same time.
2. () remains a ROCK album. Track 7 and 8 kick ass totally, (which is not something you can say about "OK, Computer" and "Kid A.")
