Exploding Indie "Cherry" Pop at its best!
The mix of sax, trumpet, the way they make these instruments stand out here and there, sometimes with the more typical piano and guitar, but the guitar tends not to be emphasized so much. It's different, but Spoon makes this album work!
The Ghost of You Lingers is heavy on the pianos with a pretty repeating, fast melody, but very fluid and fun to listen to. Just makes you want to keep moving on your feet. And who can say no to a cherry bomb? The chimes and sax really get your attention on that number. The Underdog can be like you or I being the underdog liking this album in such a way that since others do not "have a fear of the underdog, they will not survive." Just a silly "diddy" about not having others not enough patience for success. They are one of my new favorite bands!

that's fine and dandy
put this group in the weezer category- but that's not a terribly bad thing. you can tell though that they want to sell records in their output. for stuff that sounds good/interesting and doesn't sound quite as forced, investigate; silver apples, tuxedo moon, the german shepherds, minimal man, rick kaley and the menacing mutants, friction, cat party, lost sounds, t.s.o.l, suburban lawns, new collapse, stockhausen, etc.

Spoon- GaGaGaGa
A great Cd from a great band. I cant believe that this is the first time I have purchased one of their C.d.'s. Judging from this one, I will get everything they have produced. 2008-07-25

seriously amazing
Britt Daniels never ceases to amaze me with his catchy beats. I can't get enough of Spoon. Although I do no like this album as much as Gimme Fiction or Kill the Moonlight, it still definitely emphasizes the classic Spoon sound that causes me to have a hop in my step when I listen to them walking down the street tuned into my lovely iPod. :) 2008-07-22

Simply the best rock album of 2007
Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is great. This is not radio rock or pop. This album is not for people that enjoy Nickleback, Creed, or other power chord ridden ballads. It is for rock and rollers looking for the next legendary sound.
For those of your who enjoy those bands, please do not take offense, but please do pay attention to the distinct differences between Spoon and all the rest. Not only is this a well built album, but Spoon stays true to themselves.
They produce songs like "Cigarette Case" that builds a complete song with few lyrics and exceptional musicality. On the other end of the spectrum, "The Underdog" is catchy and fun, but has unique attributes which pushes this past bland pop and into complex rock.
Regardless of who you like and dislike, if you are craving true rock and roll, look no further.
