Whipped Cream & Other Delights

this classic album has more than just a pretty face. the music is timeless, upbeat, fun. I challenge anyone to not smile when listening to this album. the cover; well, arguably the greatest album cover of all time.

I grew up to this music, and I can listen to it forever. Some of the songs, like "Lemon Tree," "A Taste of Honey" and "Love Potion #9" make me want to sing along; others have no lyrics that I know, but the tunes are catchy enough to stand on their own. The rhythms, the horns, and the melodies make me want to dance, at home while doing chores or in the car on a road trip. This is music that keeps my blood flowing.

For anyone who considers themselves fans of pop music from the 60s and 70s, this album is a must have.

The album cover is classic. I remember growing up and seeing this album in my parents LP collection and, now knowing what it was, thought it be some sort of dirty music or something. Far from it.

This album contains many classic and popular instrumental songs that bring back the feeling of the 1960s.
Side one is much better containing the classics "Taste Of Honey", "Green Peppers" and "Bittersweet Samba". The side two songs are much less know, but there a few gems in there, especially the polkaish "Peanuts".

The girl on the WHIPPED CREAM & OTHER DELIGHTS cover is NOT sitting in a small mountain of whipped cream. It's true! She's got white cloth draped around her that's been dabbed strategically with shaving cream.

This first million-selling album for Herb Alpert & the TJB is still their very best. It features a solid program of instrumentals of varied mood and style-- there's even a polka here ("Peanuts"). The songs "Lollipops And Roses" and "Whipped Cream" were used for many years as incidental music on the ABC-TV game show THE DATING GAME. "A Taste Of Honey," the opening album track, was a Top 40 hit in 1965. But they're really all great songs!

If you're a fan of pop music instrumentals, WHIPPED CREAM & OTHER DELIGHTS belongs in your collection. Highest recommendation.
