Take It While It's Hot

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area freestyle music was extremely hot!!! I can still remember jamming to these songs with my girlfriends back in junior highschool. This Cd really brings back a lot of memories. If you're a fan you should check out all their videos posted on YouTube, it's a fun trip down memory lane.

While never quite as popular as their contemporaries, Expose, Sweet Sensation did have a minor string of hits with their freestyle dance songs back in the late 80's. "Never Let You Go", "Hooked On You" and "Sincerely Yours" were their biggest dance floor hits. For me, Sweet Sensation falls into that category of interchangeable freestyle girl groups - Cover Girls, Pajama Party, Giggles, etc. Nothing very special to differentiate them from the pack of other freestyle girl groups, but they did have some catchy songs and were fun to dance to.

While this CD brings most of their strongest songs together in one disc (although their cover of "Love Child" from 1990 is blatently missing) "Never Let You Go" is the only cut that could be considered an extended dance mix. The other tracks seem to be album or single versions. The CD is amazingly short, only running about 40 minutes so there was more than enough space to feature some of the longer versions or some of the nice accapellas normally featured on their 12" vinyl singles.

My peeve: if you're going to basically release a dance CD, why not feature the full length remixes - how most people remember them?

This Is a prime example of why Sweet Sensation was so popular back in the hayday of freestyle in 1988! This is grade a freestyle all the way thru. With the exception of a couple of freestyle ballads, only 2. If you love to dance this is the cd! Hell, you could take this one to a club, put in on in the dj's booth and pack the floors...STILL!, Unfortunately Sweet Sensation has recently called it quits, but they left us with some bass-pumping, hard-hitting tunes that will long live as major freestyle classics: "Never Let You Go", "Take It While It's Hot", "Hooked On You", & "Victim Of Love". And you can't go without mentioning their one and only #1 hit "If Wishes Came True" which actually was a ballad! and of course their re-make of The Supremes hit "Love Child". Both of these songs are available on their 2nd cd titled "Love Child". The song "Pleasure & Pain" from that Lp is another kick butt freestyle song and definitely the stand out track for me. But, this particular album is just a must for any true dance/freestyle fan. Long live the freetyle queens!

This album is a must have for the 80's child. Every song on this album is pure magic. Granted there are only 8 tracks on this album, the quality makes up for it.

Listening to this album brings me back to my early years. It's still relevant with todays dance music.

I'd have to say my favorite song is Hooked On You. I just loved the synthasized beat to it. When I listen to this album, I can not sit still!

It may be from the 80's, but it's deffinately worth having it in your music collection.
