Solid Dolly she should have skipped the covers
The album will not dissapoint most Parton fans ( I think) but the covers are a bit weak. Why would one of the greatest songwriters of the modern era cover others songs? It wasn't that her voice was bad, but at this point what I wanted to hear was that sweet spirit al la "coat of many colours" that comes through in her bluegrass work. The single "little sparrow" is by far the best piece on the album. For most Parton fans a good buy but bluegrass fans may want to just dowload the best songs. 2008-08-11

One of Dolly's best albums ever
Highly recommended - awesome Dolly with a mix of upbeat bluegrass and haunting ballads. 2007-03-08

One of the greatest
Dolly Parton is among the greatest country music artists who ever lived - right up there with Hank Williams (Senior, of course), Patsy Cline, George Jones and one or two others. And this must be one of her finest albums. Her voice, as always, has an incredible emotional intensity and versatility but seems somehow richer and more relaxed, and the musical accompaniment - most notably the fiddle and banjo - are beyond compare. A truly wonderful experience. 2007-01-29

She IS Country When Country Is Too Cool
You want country music? NO!, Not Country Western or Chixie Dicks! This IS country music. Eddie Van Halen wannabe's do not play Telecasters with $5000 flaming paint jobs here! This is the real dolly we've wanted forever and ever now! Pure country, pure talent. I fell in love with Dolly again and in love with her spiritual connection. 2007-01-24

Beautiful
This is an album that can be listened to multiple times and not tire from it. The instrumental work that accompanies Dolly's wonderful vocals is impecable. The song Mountain Angel, despite the one reviewer's comments is quite touching and haunting. It is the story of an innocent woman who is taken advantage of and jilted by a thoughtless man. The crying harmonies that reflect the woman's mournful cries give you goosebumps. To balance such a heavy subject material, "I Get A Kick Out Of You" is a light song that sparkles like champagne bubbles.
The music just flows through you. It's well worth getting this one.
