Perfection
I love Clapton, the Doors, the Grateful Dead, and have most albums [now cd's] along with countless other groups from that era, but the one that I treasure above all others [and Europe '72 takes a close second place] is this masterpiece that took 6 hours and 45 minutes to record. Side one is excellent and I don't believe I've ever heard a better version of Stormy Monday. The CD isn't mass produced and I had to pay a hefty price for the one I've got to replace my 33LP, but to me it was money well spent.

Awesome...
If you don't have this album.... SHAME ON YOU !!! Lee and Dusty are awesome musicians. MR B-3 and a killer drummer...

I first saw Lee Michaels on Ed Sullivan way back when and was taking piano lessons (started at age 10) and I was just blown away.

It only took two months to talk my parents into getting me a Vox Continental (wish I still had it) and a brand new black face Fender Bassman. (yeah I had to pay them back and I still have the Bassman)

Didn't realize that every band wanted a KB player... I tried so hard to emulate Lee's style and did a pretty good job of it. Still playing in a band and using a Hammond XK-1. Sounds just like a B-3...

Listen to Dusty drumming too... that is one "in the pocket" drummer. There are people who bang on drums and there are people who play the drums. Dusty plays the living death out of them.

Shred'n a B3
To my knowledge the term "shredding" wasn't around in 69, but this gentlemen certainly was capable of doing so to a Hammond organ. This was my very first 8 track. Needless to say I wore the damn thing out. I never heard an organ played with such raw passion. The riffs on Would You Be Happy still gives me "rushes" It just gets so powerful. . Stormy Monday is more of the same intensity ,Lee making his B3 scream. I have never heard that classic played better, & with more feel'n than Lee's version. I have never heard anybody duplicate the sound that which Lee Michaels delivers on this cd. This one is a must for Lee Michael fans. It don't get better than this.

Fantasic Musician, Incredible Music
I remember hearing Lee Michaels during the 60's, but opportunities to hear him live or to buy his albums were very limited. Those who spoke about him raved about his vocals, his keyboards, his drummer Frosty.

Although I owned "5th," I always wanted more, and I especially wanted this recording, because of what listeners said about it: its sound is bluesy, the instrumentals are incredible, and his vocals are fantastic.

When I finally had the chance to get this recording, I jumped at it. And I enjoy listening to it often.

It is a "must have" if you like 60's music. Lee Michaels reminds me of Stevie Winwood, yet his style is innovative. The music is mostly keyboard with less guitar than typical of 60's material, but I enjoy it, because Lee's music was not just a copy of another artist or band's sound.

A multidimensional artist

Lee Michaels was one of these superb talents that nourished and influence directly - at least to my mind - to a new singer to come: I' m talking Elton John.

If you think I' m exaggerating, please pay attention to the legendary song Highty Hi and then you will agree with me.

A must-have in your collection.
