I heard this song on my cousin's myspace yesterday and immediately had to find out who this chick was. Right away I recognized her face as the lead singer from TRICK PONY. This song is a masterpiece. The lyrics along with the music are a gem. I recommend anyone to give it a listen on myspace. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. I repeat: YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!! It's an added bonus to know from the precious review that Heidi recorded with THE MAN IN BLACK prior to his death. Johnny & June's love story lives on!! This is now My MYSPACE song.

Johnny and June runs the triple crown in Country music. It has it all. First, the song echoes the tradition that distinguishes Country. Country doesn't forget its foundations, and Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash are both pillars of that foundation. Second, the song, "Johnny and June" offers terrific lyrics. The chorus is great, but a couple of verses are even better. Third, the words are wrapped in a great melody sung be one of the best voices in Nashville. I loved Heidi through at least three Trick Pony albums and I've seen her perform live in multiple shows. If Heidi's new album (due out August 5, 2008) is anything like the lead single, it will be another hit. I especially liked this tribute to Johnny and June Cash because Johnny Cash sang Big River with Heidi on an earlier Trick Pony album, bringing a personal touch to her rendition of the intense lyrics.
