Acariocando

I was fortunate enough to pick up this CD last year after it was released to the European market. Although it is very pricey, it is truly one of his best! I am ordering a copy for a friend who is not an Ivan Lins fan (prefers Jobim and others) with confidence that he will re-evaluate this master of Brazilian music.

Im a great fan of Ivan Lins having had the pleasure of listening to him vocalise on other artistes' CDs but Acariocando is sort of brazilian pop and I found it a tad disappointing. He normally uses his voice to great effect but on this CD, its just straight forward singing to an electronic background of brazilian beat music. Dont get me wrong! Its not a bad CD, its just not as as spine tingling as Cantatado Historias or when he sang a duet with Andrea Bocelli where he vocalised to great effect.

Is unfortunate (and I don't even know why this great CD is not available in the US market; apparently only available in Brasil, Mexico and Japan) that after almost two years, this CD is still nowhere to be found in the north-american market.
However, going back to the CD, this is a very enjoyable/pleasent CD by Ivan (the second most-recorded composer from Brasil after Tom Jobim);still combining jazz-tinged tunes and exploring back some of his samba roots. Songs like "Passarela No Ar", "Ela E A Propria Vida" and "Renata Maria" are total knock-outs.
