great music
If you are into Americana and music this is a MUST BUY. The guy had so much soul and the band plays like the all-stars they are. You want to talk about a pocket? This rhythm section has a pocket that is relentless. Hank is transcendent and the lead and slide guitars and fiddles are spectacular. It does not get better than this.

A Flash From The Past
Whether I liked it or not, I grew up with Hank Williams and what was known as "country-western". Hank Williams was my father's favorite. When my father died in 1991, one of my brothers purchased a greatest hits tape and we laughed because it brought back so many memories. When I saw today's deal, I knew I had to add it to my collection. As I listened to the previews, I realized that I knew the words to these songs and it took me back to a time that is sometimes forgotten.
Thanks Amazon for throwing a twist into the mix!

Honky Tonk Blues
No one sings the country blues like Hank Williams. One of the very few country artists I enjoy. A great artist of his time. Great in any time.

20 of his hits.

Great old country music
I knew of Hank Williams Sr. I didn't realize how much of his songs I was familar with until I saw a show of his life. Oh, and he was way before my time. I'm 28, but I love his twang. Great old-fashioned country from the king of country music.

Introducing Mr. Hank Williams!
It may be missing some classics ("I Saw The Light," anyone?), but this is still one of the greatest collections of country music ever assembled. Hank Williams' uncanny knack for songwriting and performance is on full display here- he was an artist in the truest sense of the word, a single-minded visionary whose best work transcended genre- indeed, this disc has the potential to convert country haters the world over- if the boozy swing of "Move It On Over" doesn't get your toes tapping, and if the stark desolation of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" doesn't take a grab at your soul, then you're just plain not listening hard enough. Open up to this music, though, and you'll find a lifetime's worth of treasures. The Hank Williams songbook is packed with spine-tingling poetry ("Ramblin' Man"), gin-joint atmospherics ("Your Cheatin' Heart") and emotionally ravaged balladry ("My Heart Would Know"). And that's just the first five songs! Anyway, this is truly brilliant music from one of the great artists of 20th century America, and one of the finest best-of collections ever built. There's more to Hank Williams than what's here, but it's a great start.
